Open Thread: If You Were Supreme Ruler

Let’s have some fun.  I will start it out.  Today I am in a domestic issue mood, so most of mine come from that viewpoint.  But don't limit yourself!  

If I were Queen:

I would immediately have every medical service adjust charges for all services to the lowest negotiated price by an insurance company, whether one is insured or not.  These charges would henceforth be adjusted only for inflation.

I would require 2 years of service for all between 18 and 20.  This could be in the military or in domestic service (like VISTA) if said individual can prove they are a contentious (or conscientious) objector.

I would require each individual who receives unemployment or welfare benefits to perform 8 hours of community service per week.  This could be tutoring children, paving roads, whatever one is qualified for.

I would erect fences on all parts of the border with Mexico where deserts exist so no one would ever die trying to cross over to a better life again.

I would allow anyone with no major criminal offenses in either country and a proven job admittance at the border.

I would enact a mandatory 10 year labor sentence to anyone caught illegally transporting aliens across our borders.

I would command that all degrees at any accredited university in any country be accredited here.  Not just degrees obtained in countries we like this week.

Can you tell I live on the border?  Anyway, you get the idea.  What would you do?
